As a black man with mental health diagnoses as a result to police brutality, this 2024 election cycle is triggering damn near every day...neither of the 2 party candidates are good for us as a collective; let alone the country. One candidate has disrespected every minority group you can think of and also wants to bring back policies that leave me and people like me politically and systematically vulnerable; such as "stop and frisk" and giving police more funding for weapons and equipment. The candidate has sued for racial slumlord practices, has had several sexual harassment suits, and has been convicted of over 30 charges. To make matters worse there black people that are still gonna vote for them
The other candidate has made policy that strengthened a very high conviction rate at the expense of the people that voted for them. Some of those people were held in jail while innocent, some were jailed for taking care of sick children, and this candidate held up evidence to overturn convictions that would give people their lives back. This candidate also kept people in jail to make money for the state prison system via the cheap prison labor force. This candidate also is in support of a "cop city" being built in every major city innthe U.S. The most painful thing about this candidate is looks like us, but has done more harm than good to us specifically. This candidate was asked if they were going to do anything to help black people back in 2016 and they said emphatically No!!! I have been ridiculed by family and friends alike even after showing documentation and legislative proof to validate my reasons why I will support a 3rd party in good conscious with no regrets...I can not in good conscious vote anyone who would support policies that would bring harm to their own citizens. To be beaten down by a police officer that is supposed to be protecting you...is traumatic and I have been traumatized. To hear candidate say that he is going to mass deport migrants and or anyone that doesn't support them is triggering. What are you getting for your vote from the 2 main parties that is tangible? The party just has to get 5% to make the electoral college null and void because the 2 party candidates can not reach 270. I just want this voting cycle to be over. My anxiety is through the roof...I am tired of being triggered by both these 2 parties. Black people we gotta do better and do something different.
