It’s a black poetry day…
Everyday…
I write my black self
A piece and i gave it a soul
And rhythm…
Yes my black poetic self…
Every damn day
I write black people voices
My pages keep ancestors
In journals….
I understand the chains
The pain….
I understand
We demand justice….
I understand
We sick and tired of
Racism livin in our air…..
Cos everyday
It’s a black poetry day
I write about us
All the time…
I have to…
I feel like my race needs to think…
Needs a lot of healin….
I know it’s tough…
Oppression got us all fuck up
And we have to live with it
On a daily basis….
How is it ok?
Everyday
Is a
Black poetry day….
I speak on issues
We have
Even though
I don’t experience it a
Lot
But I understand
What my people has to go through…
This unfairness…this microaggressions
The fact we have a lot
Of mental illnesses
We don’t talk about
In the black community….
I should be able to
Write serious topics
About black people
About racism
Cos this is too important
Than writin peace
Happiness and love to the world
When really
We live in a society that always judge
Our melanin…i don’t mean to
Be negative however I should warn
Black people…
Honestly I don’t wanna care
About white folks’s feelings
And guilt trips…I’m aware I got white
Friends and white people help me
Yet I am fightin for black people
Humanness in my poems…
Cos around the world
Not just in America,
Everybody’s treated us
Like shit….
This is why
Everyday is
My black poetry day
I observe….
I learn….
I listen
My people are human….
Not a fuckin half….
We’re the mothers and fathers of
The human race…..
And I may not be an activist
But I do point out the problems
That never seem to go away….
I mentioned boycott
I mentioned fightin back if necessary…
I mentioned white supremacy speaks violence…
I talked about our history
I talked our slave mentalities
I talked about black love
I talked about unity
And I won’t apologize
That I speak the truth….
Everyday is

Not just October 17th….
Black poets
Write beautiful things
From their souls…
Leave their bones on every page
With scars…
Why banned us?
Oh do you like the whitewash
Black poems cos you’re a white
Audience right?
White readers?
To make everyone feels uncomfortable?
To me, that’s racist, power of racism…

You can’t even tell me to drop my pen
and stop my thumbs from typin my heart out
